Guess who is learning to feed himself?

Bet my little valentine is all dressed in green today.

I decided if I had an Irish name it would probably be ( Pattie O'Furniture) !

My thoughts head toward Savannah today, where today everyone is Irish, the fountains are spraying green water, the grits are green, schools are out, the parade goes on forever and a day and even McDonalds celebrates with green mint shakes!

I've got lots of posts to catch up on but this one is about the special relationship between my boys....Andy and Oscar. Andy is thrilled to be an active part of Oz's life and is already making plans to take him to his first Mets game.

Uncle Andy was thrilled when Suzy found a cap similar to Andy's favorite cap. This cap belonged to my dad (the grandfather he is named after) and he wears it whenever I'm in town. I think he wants me to know he didn't lose it.

Suzy had a Cowboy birthday party for Oscar's first birthday. We all wore cowboy hats, bandannas, and jeans.....except for Andy. He decided that a cowboy party would not be complete without an Indian. So.....you guessed it. He rented an Indian costume for the party. Oscar loved it but Andy did manage to scare two little girls at the party.
Now I ask you? How many uncles would dress up for a little kid's party? What a sweet guy.

As you can see "Cowboy Oscar" tamed that wild Indian with one of his smiles...There's a whole post coming about the party with lots of pictures and links so don't worry I'm in no fear of losing my "Diva" status.

Now for some unsolicited bragging about Uncle Andy. Boy Wonder is taking college courses to get a degree in business . He is paying his own tuition and is really doing well. He has raised his grade point average to 3.6. Bear in mind, he hates to study and hates math and is taking courses in accounting and statistics. He works all night and has 8 o'clock classes. He goes to every class and has even gone in for tutoring. He wants to get a "big boy job" and he knows he needs a degree to be taken seriously. We are so proud of him for his perseverance and maturity.

I enjoy watching Andy with Oscar. He is very protective with him and even babysat one evening so Suzy and Tim could out to a movie. Oscar was already down for the night and Andy did call me and asked me to pray that Oscar would sleep the whole time his parents were out cause he was pretty nervous about child care. God is good, Oscar slept and both uncle and nephew survived the outing. Good job Andy!

My garden is really starting to get colorful. This week my flower beds got a boost. I was thrilled to have my daughter Suzy and Oscar spend a week with us while her husband was gone to a conference in Seattle.

We had a great time despite the rain. We went shopping at our favorite stores and walked all over Dayton and Harrisonburg. For Mother's Day I bought some beautiful bedding plants for the garden. What fun digging in the dirt and actually seeing some beautiful colors in the landscape.

Suzy enjoyed digging in the dirt and planting flowers and plants. We actually had our first picnic on Mother's Day. Mr. Wonderful and Tim fixed us a wonderful lunch under the huge shade tree in the back yard.

Oscar enjoyed the grass, the breeze, the birds, and the leaves dancing in the wind. I love his hat. He reminds me of a little Amish boy in this picture.

Mr. Wonderful picked out this hanging basket for me. He knows I like red geraniums. This basket is red, white, and blue so will be great for the fourth of July too.

I love this picture of Suzy and Oz! Tim came on Saturday and we got to spend all Sunday together. We got some really good spoiling time in with Oz. They left Monday and I'm already looking forward to seeing them in June along with Becky, Jerry, Emma and of course our son Andy.

Sunday Seven....Back in the Daisy Patch

1. I'm back home! Praise the Lord ( and my sis) for the opportunity to spend a week with Oscar and his mom. Yesterday my day started at 3:45 A.M. and I found that Laguaria Airport is not difficult at 4 in the morning. Tim helped me with the electronic boarding passes and security isn't very busy early in the morning. What I thought would be my biggest hassle turned out to be really easy.

2. Most of my day was spent at Dulles Airport in D.C. There is only one flight a day that goes into our airport(Shenandoah) and after a two hour delay it was canceled. My sister (watching over me from Ohare's computer) got me on another flight to Charlottesville which left at 12:45. I arrived safely but my bag is still on vacation.

3. Mr. Wonderful met me at the airport and after reporting my "run-away-bag" took me to Chick-fil-a for a late lunch of chicken nuggets and a shared brownie with ice cream. That made me do a "happy dance" but he also surprised me with several home projects that he completed that I had almost given up on. I should go away more often! Yeah Mr. Wonderful!!

4. It's good to be home with my cats, my bed, and my man! I got to sleep all night long! What a treat! I forgot what it is like when you have a new baby. I took the early morning shift so Suzy could catch a few winks.

5. I have lots of pictures of Emma that Becky posted. Isn't she a doll? She looks so adorable. Becky says she kept the wig and hat on the entire time. Becky also had a small Raggedy Anne that Emma carried with her. Emma loved the attention and the chocolate (can you tell we are related?) I'm working on a scrapbook for My Little Raggedy Girl!

6. Speaking of my Canadian Girls.....Becky and Emma will be flying to New York for Christmas. Jerry can't get away but we are so thrilled to be able to get both grands together. You know there will be lots of fun, food and photos. This is the last time Emma can fly without having to purchase a seat for her. Her second birthday is in January.

7. I got to be a part of some of Oscar's firsts. I got to be his first babysitter so his parents could celebrate their first date as mommy and daddy. I had a wonderful, fun-filled time that ended all too quickly. I'm looking forward to having both grands to love on and spoil rotten over Christmas. I love being a Diva to Emma and Oscar.

Hope your week went well. I think I may have found my missing spirit of adventure . I still don't like to travel by myself but I don't think it will be my last outing. Dim the lights, cue the music, and exit thankfully for another busy and memorable week.

Devilish Duo....Mother and Son

Even Sweet Boys have a little Devil in them.

Beware of cute spiders!

Doesn't it look like Oscar is dancing?

We tried to make Oz a black widow with the red hour glass but it looked cuter as a bow tie. We have one more costume it go.....so stay tuned.

Thursday 13----My favorite pictures of our grandson Oscar

The birthday boy with his Poppa and Diva.

Oscar and his adoring fans....at his one week birthday!

Oscar Winking!

Oz and his Diva!

Please tell me that's not my brother!

Mummy Collage!

Monster feet!

The Mummy with his Mommy!

Oscar and his uncle Andy discussing sports.

What's that you say Diva?

Jack-o-lantern boy with matching socks.

Oscar looks startled....has he found out that he is not a pumpkin? How would you title this pictures? Suzy calls it "Boo".

Here's Miss Suzy with her boys....Mr. Pan and Oscar.

Here's my boy, looking like a little pumpkin. We (Suzy and me) have had so much fun dressing him up and taking his Halloween pictures. He has such a sweet disposition and lets us play. My sister Bobbie, says her young grandson will say, "No cheese" whenever he does not want to have his picture taken. I'm wondering if that will be Oscar's first sentence?

More Oscar Halloween apparel.

I found this little onesy that says" I love my Mummy." It glows in the dark. How do I know?.....well we had another episode of Smoke Alarm Frenzy in which Diva puts two pizzas into cook and the crust closest to the oven wall burns setting off the series of Smoke Alarms and only stopped by turning off the power. I was holding Oscar at the time and I could have used him for a flashlight because he was glowing in the dark.

Leave it to Oz's real Mummy to use toilet paper to complete the look. He's an adoreable mummy don't you think?

I wonder what his next outfit will be. Stayed tuned!

Once upon a time there was a beautiful princess who lived in a beautiful castle three floors above the ground. The beautiful princess lived in the country of New York where people never sleep and every one is always in a hurry.

She married a handsome prince who treated her as the love of his life, his soul mate, and protected and cared for her greatly. Together they went on many great adventures to strange and far away lands and life was good.

But the beautiful princess worked with children and in her heart she wanted one of her very own. This idea grew and grew and only increased after meeting her golden hair niece from the land of the cold north. Princess Emma definitely needed a cousin she thought. So she spoke to Prince Charming and he also thought it was a good idea.

The beautiful princess and Prince Charming had a very handsome baby boy. Prince Oscar had his Daddy's dark hair and dark eyes and his Momma's sweet lips and small frame. He rarely fussed and was the most kissable baby in the whole kingdom. Surely such a remarkable boy as this should be celebrated throughout the kingdom of the land that never sleeps located in the beautiful castle nestled on the third floor.

And so a royal birthday party was planned for his one week birthday that would occur at 11:55 P.M. (the exact time of his birth) because he was much too young to be out after midnight.

The Queen Mother prepared totally decadent carrot cake cupcakes with one candle while the beautiful princess decided to make party hats in lieu of their royal crowns. Right before midnight Prince Oscar was awakening with a kiss, and many warm wishes from his loyal subjects whom he observed were wearing rather strange head gear.

Can you tell which hat belonged to the beautiful princess, the handsome prince and the royal old couple?

Here I am feeding the new man in my life. Mr. Wonderful and I have been taking some feeding shifts so Mom and Dad can get some much needed sleep. Oscar is such a love and perfect in every way. (Not that I'm at all biased!)

He sleeps a lot and is getting better at nursing. He had his first pediatrician appointment yesterday and his doctor was very pleased .

Auntie Becky has been giving us some good advice via phone calls from Canada. Emma has been looking at Oscar's photo and saying "baby" when she sees him.

Proud Poppa, has been helping me do the 3 a.m. feeding. He is a terrific burper! You can tell he is very proud of his new grandson. Here's a picture of my boy awake. I love watching him sleep. He smiles sometimes and loves to sleep with his right arm extended over this head.

I love this picture of new daddy Tim with Oscar. Tim is such a wonderful daddy and very protective of Suzy and Oscar. This is a shout out to Terry and Marie (Tim's parents) for raising such a caring and sensitive man. Tim is a great cook, and anticipates so many of Suzy's needs before she even has to ask. We adore him and feel so blessed to have him in our family.

Oscar will be a week old tomorrow at 11:55 P.M. We are planning on having a one week birthday party for him. All of us have been putting in some late night hours so I'm sure we will all be in attendance.

Keep this new family in your prayers as they adjust to each other. It is so sweet to watch your baby interact with her baby. Loving every minute of Diva duty.
