A totem is any natural or supernatural object, being or animal which has personal symbolic meaning to an individual and to whose phenomena and energy one feels closely associated with during one's life.
Baby Girl and Hubby recently got back from a trip to Canada to see Niagara Falls. They also stopped by Niagara Totem Pole Park and watched Totem poles being carved. Baby Girl thought I would like this one. I wonder why? Check out her fate here!

I think I've always wanted to be nurse. One new doll had eyes that opened and shut. I was intriqued to find out how they worked....consequently I punched out her eyes. I must have felt bad about blinding her as "Winky" became my favorite doll.
My Aunt Aggie was a registered nurse. She was a public health nurse in rural North Carolina and every summer would let me ride around with her to visit homes, and give lectures at the schools. I adored her and always felt important that she let me "help" her.
One day we went to a clinic where she "lectured" many black mothers about the importance of getting their children "shots" for school. I was 5, lilly white, blonde hair and blue eyes so naturally "stood out in the crowd of black faces". I remember asking her after the meeting, if she saw me waving at her. She laughed and said, "Child, you looked like a moth ball in a sea of prunes!"
I went to Old Dominion University and got my degree in nursing. My Aunt Aggie was at my college graduation. The ironic part of this story is that when I went to take my state boards to be licensed as an RN "Hurricane Agnes" came through Richmond and we had to evacuate before finishing the two days of testing.
I went into nursing through the influence of an "Agnes" and almost was done in by another Agnes? Coincidence? Who influenced you in your career?

The anticipation of going to Serendipity 111 for frozen Hot Chocolate has finally been met. We were in the city on Fridiay and went to Serendipitys. There was a two hour wait so we did some shopping in nearby stores (Dylan's Candy Bar and Bloomingdales.) The wait was well worth it. So that's another thing I can cross off my "life list".

Here's my Mr. Wonderful. He was our driver and tour guide. He enjoyed the food at Lady and Sons too. He has been promising to take me for the last two years so he wanted a picture for proof that he made good on his word.

Paula Deen was out of town so this was as close as we got to joining her for lunch. Here we are Lazy Daisy, Jennifer ( Happy at Home) and Sandy (Flip Flop Floosie)

My birthday came on Saturday while we are at the National Missionary convention in Atlanta. I was able to have a celebration lunch with my gal pals. It was a great time of sharing, laughter, and fun. Thanks to each of you for making the day special.
The missionary men in my life, sang "Happy Birthday "to me in four parts ( what they lacked in harmony they made up with enthusiasm!) Thanks guys for letting me take time off to be celebrated!
The ring leader asked me if this was my 18th birthday to which I replied, "Yes, I'm 18 again for the third time!" ( As in 18+18+18, you do the math, I don't want to know!)
SO in honor of my 18th birthday....here's to the girl I was , to the mother I am and to the wise woman I am becoming!
Thanks for all the calls, cards, gifts and warm wishes.
