Is Time running out on the Blog Olympics ?

Late Monday Night IOBC Chairwoman, Barbara Miers released this statement.

"There are no other future training camps currently planned. I will make a formal announcement regarding the continuation of the Blog Olympics at a future date."

Speculation is running wild in the blog community. Does it mean that no one has stepped forward to host the next event? Does it mean that there will be no future events?

Is Barbara stepping down from the helm?

The next training camp will be this Saturday July 15th and will be hosted by Killired.

Killired will only hint that this event will take much longer than normal and bloggers should set aside some time in order to complete it. Bloggers will have 24 hours to post their scores and there will be event clocks at both the host site and IOBC Headquarters.

Last Game (?) will be posted at 9P.M. (CST).

Grab your passport and head on down to the land of Hobbits. Blog Olympics are being held this Saturday by our own Wendy Wings. New Zeland is our destination and our search for "the ring" is part of the Blog Olympic Ring Training Camps.

New Zealand is known as Middle Earth for its Lord of the Rings trilogy. New Zealand born Peter Jackson filmed the entire three films in various locations around NZ.

This Academy Award winning trilogy of films (4 Oscars for The Fellowship of the Ring, 2 Oscars for The Two Towers and 11 Oscars for The Return of the King - including Best Film and Best Director awards) showcased the skills of the cast and crew. One of the big winners however was New Zealand. It took two years to film the LOTR trilogy but millions of years to build the sets.

To find the time (remember NZ is always in the future from US time) please check the clock at Blog Olympic Headquarters. As usual, the game will be up for 24 hours and winners will be posted at the host site as well as Blog Olympic Headquarters.

In keeping with the Lord of Rings theme I came up with some startling comparisons to the movies and some of our participants.

News to Make You Snooze:

Our hostess ( Wendy Wings) looks remarkably like one of the Elves of middle earth.

Elf Fact: Elves typically have fair complexions and coloring.

Old old lady of the hills is actually Elven Queen Galadriel.

· Elves are immortal and do not physically age

· Elves do not grow weak as they age, only wiser and more beautiful

· Elves have more beauty than any creatures on earth, but also possess the most extreme happiness and sorrow

The Gnome will have many friends in NZ due to his Dwarf- likeness.

Dwarf Facts:

· Dwarves are four to five feet tall with the male Dwarves long-bearded.

Our own Barbara has remarkably similarities to Gandolf the Wizard. " When Gandolf comes you simply know that there is something about to happen." She has remarkable technical skills and the ability and forsight to pull them off.

Wizard Facts:

Wizards possess great powers of body and mind

· A wizard's appearance resembles that of an old man, although they age slowly and are actually physically vigorous (Didn't I tell you she was really a man?.....was I wrong?)

Naturally our own bad boy of World Domination can relate to the Sauron.
Now no more than a terrible will, Sauron appeared as a great Eye, lidless and slitted, wreathed in flame. Against his piercing gaze none could stand. Did you notice the similiarities in names Sauron / Scourser ?

I know many of you have already gotten the comparison of Killired to Gollum. Gollum was the wretched creature transformed by the Ring....."The Precious" .
Not to say that Killired is obcessed by being in first place and in control of the gold ring(s). By the way....she looks much better than this picture (it was before her first cup of coffee!)

Crazie Queen, Cozy Reader, Mar, TnChick, Melli, and Yellow Rose are actually Hobbits.

Hobbit Facts:
Hobbit height ranges between two and four feet tall.

· Hobbits have pointed ears.

· They have oversized feet and never wear shoes.

· Hobbits have curly hair.

· Hobbits love to eat (six substantial meals a day), brew ale, smoke pipe weed, and garden in the Shire where they live.

Did I prove my point? Hmmm.....maybe I'm a Hobbit too!

Don't forget.....July 1 st at Wendy Wings......Be There or your may be chased by an Orc from Middle Earth.

Mark your calendars for the Blog Olympic Training Camp......Father's Day Edition. The camp starts Thursday June 15th and will be hosted by eph2810 in Arizona.

Starting time was Midnight Arizona time (3 A.M. E.S.T.) Relax, take a deep breath.....yes it's already started but you have 24 hours to post your results. (There are no extra points for posting your results early.)

Keep you eye on Blog Olympic Headquarters for time clock and at our host site my lighter side for official start time.

As usual, the event will be open for 24 hours and you will post your results at the host site. The official game will take only a few minutes and there is no blog entry required. All of the games are focused on helping you be a better blogger and will give you tips on how to improve your blogs.

Results will be posted on the host site and you can also retrieve your "virtual medals" that we encourage you to display proudly on your blog site. Bragging rights are free.

It's easy! It's fun! It takes only minutes....(and there are just reruns on television right now!) See you there!

Oh .... Did I mention that since this is the Father's Day Edition that only people who have, have had, or been fathered can play? ( Sorry, all plant life, clones , alien creatures or pod people are excluded this time!)

Speaking of Father's..... I've been doing some special investigative reporting on some of our Blog Olympians. Did you ever wonder what kind of fathers these athletes must have had to instill in them this competitive spirit?
Hmmmm.....lets look!

Word on the street is to look out for Minerva. Romans said that Minerva was not born in the usual way, but rather sprang fully armed from the brain of her father. What a woman! (Psst....other little known facts about this fierce blog warrior, according to legend, the Queen of Spades playing card depicts Minerva. ...so don't engage her in poker!)

Killired has been playing "king of the mountain" lately. Is it because :
a) she is the mother of bouncing baby boys and has all this excess "testosterone around her house?"
b) because she is on top of the blog olympic training camp stats?
c) because she was raised by mountain men?
d) is a close friend of CrazieQueen and wants to be royalty too?

Scouser has been absent from the Blog Olympic training camps because:
a) he is teaching a course in World Domination for Dummies on line?
b) he has decided to be the "Father of World Domination" by owning at least 50% of shares in every blog.
c) he is after the" World Cup " to add to the rest of his World Collection?
d) he has decided to be "absolutely average" for a while?

If gnomes are diminutive, stout humanoids who wear tall, pointed conical caps and dress in solid colors such as blue, red or green, and the male gnome always has a long white beard does this mean that our game playing Gnome is:
a) actually a "Game Boy?"
b) escaped from a fantasty game and is actually a dwarf?
c) is really the son of famed dwarf "Sneezy" from the Snow White Story?
d) stars in his own commericals for Travelosity?

Wendy Wings is determined to topple Killired from her lofty first place position because:
a) she has wings and is the only one able to do a "fly by shooting".
b) her father was Mercy and she had to either fly or deliver FTD Flowers.
c) her father was "Peter Pan" and she has pixie dust on hand.
d) now that she is going to the Emmys people expect outrageous behavior.

Old, Old Lady is having a birthday party on June 27th. We are all invited to her virtual birthday party Because she is such a "star" to us , We invite you to speculate on "Who's Her Daddy?"
a) Charlton Heston, Ben Hur, or Moses? (oh, they're all the same!)
b) (frankly my dear, I don't give a.....") Clark Gable?
c) The old man and the sea....Spencer Tracy?
d) Errol Flynn, W.C. Fields, or Charlie Chaplin?

Melli has become quite an "Extreme Stationary Bike" enthusiast because:
a) with 4 teens that's the only time she can read her book in quiet?
b) Lance Armstrong ( 4 time Tour de France) winner is her daddy and which could explain why she loves "yellow jersey's"? (I haven't figured out the floppy hat in various colors yet though!)
c) the kids always have the car so she's in training for peddaling around town this summer?
d) she has an extreme weakness for colored beads? ( she'll have to explain that....)

Good Luck to all our Blog Olympians. Remember this Thursday, June 15.

Check Blog Olympic Headquarters Official Time Clock for time left to compete.

Ahhh....June is approaching and with it graduations, weddings and of course the Blog Olympics.

For those in the US we won't be traveling out of the country this time but it is a different time zone. Our hostess will be Keb of What The....(insert expletive here). Training Camp begin 9 A.M MST (or noon EST) on Thursday, June 1st. For the time change in your area check in with our hostess or at Blog Olympics Head Quarters.
This game takes 5 minutes or less . You will have 24 hours to post your results.

Keb Hint for this game: How readable is your blog?

You can't win if you don't play.

Speculation is high that Killired can be toppled from first place by a (winged creature.)

Did you ever wonder where some of our Blog Olympians went to school? After exhaustive research we have come up with some very interesting facts.

We haven't heard from our old friend Sourser in a while.....is he taking graduate classes at his alma mater "Domimate U. "?

We heard that Friday's Child attended T.G.I. F. State University . (Thank Goodness it's Friday!) maybe that's why she's always so upbeat and thankful.

Old Old Lady reportedly majored in drama and yodeling at "Little Old Lady U".

World renown conductor Carol of the Friend of the Friendless Marching Band received her training at" I Love Lucy How Bout U ".

Rumors has it that Crazie Queen attended the Royal Academy of Psychiatry where she earned her crown and scepter.

Chichimama
is attending " School of the Insomniacs " where she is attending night time classes.

Melli graduated from "Wheeling University" where she majored in cycling and recycling.

TNChick was voted homecoming queen at "Tennessee PolyChick University".

Yellow Rose was voted "Sweetest Little Rosebud" at" Yellow Rose of Texas State."

Mar attended University of Spain where she majored in International Hospitality.

Last but not least.....our own Barbara Miers attended "I'm Brilliant R. U". She graduated with top honors and was awarded the coveted "lightbulb" award.

Don't you be left out in the dark. Will we see you at the next training camp?

Blog Olympic Training Camp is moving this month to England. Our own beloved Queen.....CrazyQueen is hosting at the palace.

With a home country advantage, speculation is high that our Prime Minister of World Domination Scouser will be on the prowl. He's been pretty quiet but was recently seen beeing measured at Madame Tussuad Wax Museum.

Watch out for Minerva.....another home town hero. She's sure to be on top of her game and is rumored to be 856th in line to the royal throne. ( And we all know about those "royals" right?)

April was poetry month and rumor has it Yellow Rose has been sitting in her garden looking for a word to rhyme with Purple! (No Rosie, syruple isn't a word.)

The divine Miss Wings, still fresh from her double gold Blog Olympic wins, is busy holding auditions at her site for the next 48 hours. So far she has discovered Jane, Killired, and R2 as blogging stars, which are all gold Blog Olympians. (Way to call it Wendy!)

In unrelated news Melli was sited for driving on the wrong side of the street. No accidents were reported but she was told she must keep her stationary bike on the Left hand side of the street.

Carol, has the Friend of the Friendless March Band all set to play at the palace. I believe their first number will be "Hail to the Queen". The band recently had a car wash, donut sale to raise money for their traveling expenses.

Gnome, has once more been mistaken. In March he was mistaken for a leprachan, this time he was mistaken for the Traveling Gnome and was stopped to make flight and transportation arrangements for American Blog participants. You might want to switch hats gnome or you may be suspected of being a royal beefeater guard for the the palace......just a thought!

Barbara would like to pass on some traveling tips on to Bloggers who have never traveled to England. When the flag is flying at the palace the queen is in residence. There is a time difference (be sure to check Blog Olympic Headquarters for the time in your area!) Please note that you drive on the left hand side of the street in England.

Because England is a monarchy this reporter has found some interesting comparisons between Queen Elizabeth and our own CrazyQueen.

  • Queen Elizabeth II is the fortieth monarch since William the Conqueror obtained the crown of England. (CrazyQueen has been thrown out of the palace 40 times!)
  • The Queen has received over 3 million items of correspondence during her reign. ( All of them have been from CrazyQueen!)
  • Elizabeth is patron of more than 620 charities and organisations. (CrazyQueen does not belong to any of them!)
  • The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh have sent about 37,500 Christmas cards during her reign. ( CrazyQueen has never received one !)
  • In 1986 t he Queen became the first British Monarch to visit China. (CrazyQueen uses China!)
  • The Queen has met (at Buckingham Palace) ...
The first man space (Russian) Major Yuri Gagarin.
The first woman in space (Russian) Valentina Tereschkova
The first men on the moon (American) Neil Armstrong and Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin as well as their Apollo 11 colleague Michael Collins (CrazyQueen "has mooned" each of these people right outside of Buckingham Palace!)
  • The Queen likes bananas. (CrazyQueen is bananas!)

There you have it .......Blog Olympics Today !

Do you live in Honolulu? Start time is Mon 11:00 AM.
Do you live in San Francisco? Start time is Mon 1:00 PM.

A champion blogger can create a buzz. Show me the post with the most comments from your blog.

So begins Round 3 of the Blogger Olympics . How Popular is your blog? How many comments does your blog generate? What post had the highest number of comments .

"At last, my time to shine!" stated gregarious Olympian Uisce of Whiskey Talking. "Everyone knows I'm a blog comment whore! I'll show all of you just who is talking smack and who will be bringing home the gold."

Another contender for the gold tonight is (the gold and silver medalist) Running2ks. "Aw shucks, she told reporters, I'm just here to cheer everybody else on. If I win gold tonight the kids and I can use them for a craft project,( Don't you think they would make nice book markers?") Actually it would be nice to have a bronze medal to complete the collection. Awards don't mean much to me......but I do love links to my blog!"

Late comer Su of Susanna's Blog stated, " I have only just activated comments today! So zero comments in my blog. Zero comments - Zero comments from myself - Zero comments that count. This has got to be the smallest record breaking number ever." Ahh....tough break Su!

Sentamental favorite Train-Guy looks impressive this round and is definitely in the higher end medal range. Chairwoman of the IOBC (International Olympic Blogging Committee) Barbara Miers states, "He has at least 60 comments! (True, he only has one post, but you've got to admit, he's so darn cute!)" Barbara dismissed comments of obvious nepotism as" idle talk from sore losers! "

Round four competition will take place tonight at 10 P.M. unless technical problems occur.

This reporter has it on good authority to watch out for Shelli of Shelli's Sentiments. Shelli told her fan base that she was planning on a new stragedy tonight. Let's see how it works

This has been an action packed Olympic week with many more venue's still to come till the closing ceremony Saturday night.
