Finally, they are here. First pictures of our beautiful grandchild Emma.

The family just got home tonight and Darling Daughter states that they are all settling into their cozy nest.

It seems that Emma does have a temper and is already make her voice heard. I'm wondering if she will be a little spitfire like her momma.

As you can see she already has her Daddy wrapped around her little finger .

Mom looks as exhausted as Emma after a sleepless night and 90 minutes of pushing. No wonder they call it labor.

Darling Daughter was on the phone with us as we got our first peek at Emma. What a sweetheart.

More pictures are promised tomorrow. Sweet dreams Emma and let your momma and daddy get some sleep too.

No pictures of Baby Bug yet so I'm making my own. Mr. Wonderful came home with this doll yesterday ( Anne Geddes baby bee).

Knowing that darling daughter hates overly sentimental things (like Precious Moments and Anne Geddes) I'm keeping it on top of my monitor at my desk till I get some pictures of my precious baby grand (no, I'm not talking pianos!). The doll reminds me to pray for our sweet baby daily (as if I would forget!)

I've decided that I don't do waiting well. Sigh! My best friend has already called four times wanting pictures and wondering what kind of Diva I am for not already having 8 x10's ready to pass out. In the coincidence arena ( her only grandchild Savannah was born on Jan.18th).

We have a girl. A precious bundle in pink! I'm told she has 10 fingers and 10 toes and weighed in at 8 pounds 1 oz.

She is 20 inches tall and doesn't like to have her feet covered!

She was born this morning at 6:42 a.m. Canadian time.

Her name: Emmalee Anne

We will probably call her Emma. (unless she's in trouble!)

Darling Daughter sounded very tired as did proud papa. Pictures to follow, Film at 11!

I'm telling you, being agrandmother Diva is not for the faint of heart. When your baby is having a baby it is so hard not to be there to welcome this new little person into your heart and into your life.

Both momma and daughter are sleeping and all is finally right in the Daisy Patch.

Today could be the day that I get to enter the grandma Diva Club.

Darling Daughter has been going through some "practice contractions" and according to her doctor today could definitely be our babies birthday.

I'm beside myself! This Diva is staying close to the phone today.

Stay tuned for the BIG UNVEILING

Update 7:30 A.M. : No news, no baby, unable to be reached by phone. My prayer life has increased exponentially and my hair has turned silver overnight (oh come to think about it, it already is silver). Keep praying!

The theme this week is Lines.....we are in Canada visiting our very pregnant daughter so the only line I can think of is the "life line" between mother and baby. Although we have yet to see our sweet baby's face except for this photo we are already attached by the lines of love.

Yesterday while we were baby shopping Becky found a rocking basket holder. Her lovely neighbor and landlady loaned her a "Moses Wicker Basket" for her baby.

Apparently all of her children slept in it and all of her grandchildren. They have a lovely tradition of signing the bottom of the basket. It says , "We slept here- 5 Wiemken Babies" Lori-1956, Tim-1958, Jay-1960, Kari-1964, Amy-1966

John Paul-1968
Austin 1996
Logan 2006
Hazel-2006

They have been invited to sign the bottom of the basket with the name of their little one. What a sweet tradition and how lovely to be taken into their family tradition. Thank you Heather,

It was hard to get Becky and Jerry to pose by the baby bed.....aren't they going to be good looking parents?

Finally heard from our darling daughter that the baby's first pictures are adorable. The doctor is pleased that everything looks normal and we are having a healthy baby. (Thank you Jesus!)

Our baby is a very modest baby so he or she is still a "surprise package" and will remain a surprise till delivery. All of my babies were surprises so I can live with that.....daydreaming is part of the fun of waiting.

In Canada, they give the mom's one ultrasound to see if everything is progressing well. If they wanted to know the sex of the baby they would have to pay for another ultrasound later. Since money is an issue, and we know that baby is progressing normally, we will wait and wonder.

Mom and Dad are thinking girl! They were assured that "baby was not well endowed" that it was the umbilical cord they were seeing!! One of our baby's pictures looks like the baby is giving us the thumbs up!

Today is the last day of the year and I've got Good News and Bad News.

Good News: There is a new baby in the world today. His name is Joseph Reid Pickett and he is the son of my nephew Phillip. Phil and Gretchen have a new baby boy and they plan on calling him Reid ( my father's middle name!) In addition to a new baby a new Grandmother was born also....lets hear it for Granny B! Not to mention that mom is now a great grandmother!

Bad News: Becky leaves today for Canada and the next time I see her she will be a married lady. I have so enjoyed her being here. We have tried to squeeze in a whole year of "Girl Time" while she has been here. We leave for Richmond in a couple of hours. We will be meeting James and Marilyn at Chick-fil-a (Our favorite place since we don't have any here!) So sigh, I need to get ready for my baby to leave. More later!
