1954- Sammy Davis, Jr., loses his left eye in an automobile accident in San Bernardino, California. (I knew he lost his left eye but had no idea how it happened....much less on my birthday!)

1959- Ford Motor Company announces the discontinuation of the unpopular Edsel. ( See Melli, we will always be able to share the Edsel!)

1978- Jim Jones leads members of his Peoples Temple cult in mass murder-suicide. The bodies of 914 people, including 276 children, were found in Jonestown,Guyana in South America.
( such a horrible tragedy!)

1990- Pop group Milli Vanilli are stripped of their Grammy Award because the duo did not sing at all on the Girl You Know It’s True album. Session musicians had provided all the vocals.

1998 - Lewinsky scandal: The United States House of Representatives Judiciary Committee begins impeachment hearings against US President Bill Clinton. ( Wow, now that's something I really want to remember! ......Is anybody else seeing a pattern here? Diasters, accidents and scandals!)
