"If you don't need stitches, you're not hurt!" This is a statement that My Mr. Wonderful uses frequently. Our children will know the statement well as it is part of their Dad's "Mr. Macho" persona.

We do very physical work. Hand loading shipping containers is one of those jobs. Mr. Wonderful is very good at being the load master. So good that he always gets this job. It means that he has to pick up and place each item on the shipping container. The last few days have been very exhausting as we are doing back to back containers for a mission in Haiti. The first container went pretty fast and we had some extra help with the loading.

Today we started the second container. We had fewer people and everyone is tired from loading yesterday. We were loading light fixtures when I was called to help Mr. Wonderful. The urgency in their voices signal the nurse in me that it was an emergency. Sure enough I see my husband of 32 years with a bloody handerchief wrapped around his right hand .

"Let's go," he says. "I have to get stitches!" This is a man that never complains and never says," take me to the doctor", much less "I have to go get stitches." He held pressure on the hand while I drove. I never asked to see the wound or question his judgement.

Forturnately they were able to take him right in at our local clinic while I filled out the paper work. We were in and out (with a considerable lighter wallet) in less than an hour. I didn't realize how shook up I was till I couldn't remember our phone number. (Honestly, I never call myself and it's programed into the cell phone!)

I know this man so ask the Dr. while he is in the room if he can go back to work. The doctor looks at me like I'm crazy and assures me that he needs to go home and keep his arm elevated.

He's already talking about finishing the container tomorrow.

Honestly......"All men are stupid and I'm married to their King!" Bless His Heart!

Well, they certainly swallow their pride when the blood is flowing freely, don't they? Thank God for small favors.

Keep that arm elevated like you're told, Mr. W!

(I'm glad you didn't pass out, girl!)

Ouch! I don't like stitches in any part of my body if I can help it.
Containers, I do remember loading in containers. This was when I used to do my export of rattan furniture. I am quite good in loading stuff in the container.
Have a nice weekend.

Awwwwwww... poor Mr. Wonderful! He won't listen though ... they never do! They have that "hunter" thing going on! Must take care of the family, etc... etc... But I bet that hurts like crazy!

I am seriously gonna hurt him worse if he even THINKS of going back to finish it, momma! You tell him I said that, too!

Oh, no, so sorry to hear about this! Now it is important that Mr. Wonderful does what the doctor told him to do. I hope he is not in much pain (must be very painful, ouch) and wish him a quick recovery. We follow the "no blood, no sympathy" clause...

Ouch! I hate getting stitches (thank goodness I have only gotten them a couple time).

I hope he does take it easy and keep that arm elevated! :)

You gotta give the guy credit for wanting to finish what he started... although - it surely can wait until tomorrow...
Hope he's feeling better!
Take time for you, too..

Question - why does blogger keep eating my comments?

I do it all right, it goes in, I close the comments bit and my comment just [pouf!] vanishes....

As I was saying, I remember when MB phoned me to say he'd cut himself and a neighbour was taking him to hospital. Eight stitches later he came home, finished the job and cleaned up all the blood from the kitchen.....

Men!

I bet he said something like, "I don't have time to elevate my arm," or "There's too much to do." Am I right?

;-)I'm back!

I hope you're able to persuade him to stay away from heavy lifting. Sorry to hear he was hurt, I hope he's better soon.

I don't put my husband's work phone number on speed dial, otherwise I would never know the number.

Ouch por guy. My husband drilled out the entire fleshy part of his thumb once and he literally stuffed it all back in then refused to go to the doctor, of course it took his MALE best friend to talk him into getting it checked out in the end lol.

I'm glad he was able to get stitches quickly and will be ok.

Are you over the adrenaline rush yet? That always takes me a while after something like that.

Ouch, ouch ouch. I hope it is doing better now, and heals fast. When our men say they need to go to the doctor, you KNOW it has to be serious. Hope you are giving him the proper amount of "I've been injured" attention our men seem to need, Nurse Daisy. You're the best!
