Yesterday was my Best Friend's Birthday. She lives in Atlanta (a good 8 hour drive away!). So I started thinking about her and previous birthday's we've spent together.
Sue loves celebrations of all kind. She radiates warmth and fun. A normal birthday celebration would have been gathering of a bunch of our girlfriends and going out to lunch. During lunch the "Birthday Girl Tiara" would emerge and Sue would not only wear it during lunch, but continue wearing it the rest of the day where ever she went.
She loved it when total strangers wished her "Happy Birthday". She would appear shocked and asked, "How did they know it was my birthday?"
During the birthday lunch, M&M's would be scattered on the table ( edible confetti) and silly, funny, or practical gifts would mysteriously appear. She adored being the center of attention and we all adored her.
I miss her.
We have a long history together. She was (and still is ) my prayer partner, my confidant, my partner in crime, and the one person who knows me better than any one else. We've been through car accidents, graduations, weddings, births, betrayals, death of loved ones, and countless disappointments. She knows my fears, and how to snap me out of a bad mood. She knows how to pray for me when I have no words left, and how to point me to the One who is the source of our strength and hope.
Happy Birthday Sue......Chocolate anyone?
