It's Valentine's Day......A day of hearts, flowers, chocolates and if you have been very, very, good, perhaps jewelry, and dinner at your favorite place.

Unless you are married to my "Mr. Wonderful" then it is a day of wonderful practicality and perhaps a trip to the nearest "Chick-fil-a drive through".

Mr. Wonderful and I have been married 32 years ( he likes to say...32 years and some odd days!) Believe me, I can attest to the odd days!

I met Mr. Wonderful at Church. He was awkward, clumsy, very self-conscious, and amusingly nerdy. I would love to tell you it was a case of "Beauty and the Geek" ...... I was no beauty but my Mr. Wonderful could have been the poster child for geekiness.

I was instantly attracted to him. I think it was his big brown trusting puppy dog eyes, as well as his awkwardness. I love intelligent people and he is incredibly smart and loves to read. He used to try to impress people by "using the word of the day" which was usually some obscure word no one had ever heard of much less used in a regular conversation.

Behind the awkwardness is a quiet gentleness and incredible integrity.

My no frills guy gave me new knives for Valentine's day. Woo Hoo! Now there's a gift most women don't get from their mates. His rationale is that I need some good basic tools to help cut up the fresh veggies we've been eating.

His other very practical gift to me is a cable line for the commuter. (Mostly because our children complain that they can never get through to call us because their blog obcessed mother is always on-line!) He did the research and found out a the cable company has the best deal in this area. So who knows in the near future I can talk on the phone and write on the computer at the same time. Got to love those tools and the tool man!

Flowers die, candy goes straight to the hips.....tools, are lasting and say I love you every day!

What did your Mr. Wonderful do for you?

My Mr. Wonderful told me that I already had his heart so I thought I was not getting anything. I came home to a dozen red roses, a card and him being home early from work!! That is worth everything!! We went to Cracker Barrell for dinner and he is home..what more do I need !!!
Knives...well good gift...I guess!!

Dear Lazy Daisy,

That sounds like Charlie.
At least he came up with something.
I am still working on the final
gift. So far, candy, the
nice teddy bumble bee you gave
me and a cute card. I think
I will wrap myself in a bow
and present myself at the door
when I drive up to Haymarket
to see Sandy. That should be
alright. Sandy sent me
and e-mail card.She misses
me.....I am getting all
ferklempt.

By the way, guess who gave
me a haircut today...Your
favorite motiviational,
weight-watchers lady, Gloria.
She owns the barber shop I go to.
Thought she looked familiar.

I was gonna post on my blog about what my Mr Wonderful gave me.

There's this jewelry chain near us that plays their commercial endlessly. The main line is... "He went to Jarred!"

So I was gonna post as a joke..."He didn't go to Jarred!" and explain the whole ad story... and then say how thrilled I am with what he got me from not Jarred's. I think that I'll still do it as I've got some time tomorrow.

I got 3 pair of earrings... cz solitairs, cz teardrop solitairs & fake pearls. Not such a fan of the fake pearls as I already have real ones, I also have real diamond earrings... but the czs are bigger and look great on me! :D
